International Volunteers

At the heart of SSIF’s global mission is a distinguished constellation of thought leaders — frontline military commanders, Harvard-trained chaplains, pioneering blockchain technologists, Ivy League researchers, and veteran humanitarian strategists. This high-impact, cross-disciplinary taskforce provides more than counsel; they actively shape SSIF’s vision for equity, resilience, and systemic justice across borders. Their collective expertise ensures that every intervention is not only grounded in rigorous insight but built for lasting global impact.

Chairperson, Board of Directors
External Strategy & Environmental Resilience Advisor

The Shirin Sajmila International Foundation is not just a nonprofit ; it is a visionary engine of change. As a Board Director, I’ve witnessed firsthand how Rafsan’s rare ability to bridge grassroots urgency with global foresight has built a movement that redefines how we respond to trauma, displacement, and inequality. What SSIF is doing today will shape how humanitarian work is done tomorrow.

Data Analytics Fellow, Frontlines of Impact Fellowship, SSIF

Joining SSIF’s ‘Frontlines of Impact Fellowship’ changed my trajectory. As a Data Analytics Fellow, I was empowered not just with tools  but with a mission. SSIF’s mentorship and  translational vision helped me unlock $4500 +in funding through their fellowship to scale my work. This isn’t just a foundation; it’s a launchpad for the next generation of global changemakers.”

Psychology Fellow, MindFrontiers Fellowship, SSIF

The MindFrontiers Fellowship at SSIF gave me more than just a platform ;  it gave me purpose. With over $3,000 in seed funding, I helped launch SSIF’s trauma-informed mental health initiative in Kashmir, delivering psychological first aid to survivors of conflict and displacement. As a psychology student in Minnesota, I carry SSIF’s mission into every classroom and crisis. This is where global healing begins

STORIES OF CHANGE

Hazrat, Age 50

 |  Overcoming Physical and Social Barriers

Hazrat’s life in a rural village changed forever when he was struck by a speeding truck on his way home from the fields. Initially dismissed as untreatable due to his remote location, he lived in isolation for months. Project Padkhakhep intervened by facilitating a free surgical procedure performed by visiting orthopedic specialists. With subsequent physiotherapy and specialized footwear to address his leg condition, Hazrat can now comfortably manage his day-to-day farm tasks. He has become a vocal advocate for improved road safety measures, working with community leaders to install speed bumps and raise awareness of safe driving practices.
